Helping a tenant realise their potential

Our tenant Yasmin had a goal to pursue a career in accountancy and to do this she knew a qualification would open up more opportunities for her.

Thanks to the support she received from her Community Potential Specialist, Nichola, she's now started to follow her dreams and has enrolled on a course.

Yasmin will be completing a Level 2 Association of Accounting Technicians Certificate. Once she’s completed it, she’s hoping to secure an entry-level accountancy job. She’ll also be able to go on to complete her Level 3 certificate if she chooses.

As Yasmin didn’t have a device to complete the online studying and coursework, she applied to the Aspiration Pot for a tablet and was successful.

Yasmin said:

“Since leaving school all I've ever done is work. I've been in and out of jobs I haven’t been passionate about and now, whilst being a mother to young children, I wanted to achieve something and build a successful future for us. As a single working mum, I needed a part-time college course which I could do mostly online – I'm so glad I found one!

“The only problem was finding the spare funds to purchase a computer without getting into further debt. I then remembered that Twenty11 have the Aspiration Pot funding! With Nichola's support we went through what my goals were, how we can achieve them and what support is needed to do this. Twenty11 then kindly accepted my application and bought me an iPad, which I’ve been able to use for all my online studying.

“Without this support I wouldn’t have been able to enroll on the course and achieving my aspirations would’ve been harder than it has been so far. I’m extremely grateful for the support given and strongly recommend others to reach out.”
